Information for a reliable quote

The more precisely we know the building and the project, the fewer additions appear on the invoice later. These details help us most on the phone.

  • Property type and year built: single-family house, flat in a multi-unit building, commercial unit
  • Location of the property, so we can plan the journey within our service area
  • Scope in figures: number of rooms, sockets, light points or devices to be inspected
  • Condition of the distribution board: old fuse wire, missing residual-current device, known prior damage
  • Whether the rooms stay occupied or in operation and when we may work
  • Your preferred timeframe and any deadlines, for example due to a sale, letting or insurance requirement
  • Existing documents: wiring diagram, report from a previous inspection, photos of the distribution board

From the first call to the quote

A price only takes shape once we have seen the distribution board and cable runs – which is why we don't quote flat rates over the phone.

  1. 1

    Enquiry at the office

You call during office hours or write to us via our enquiry form. We note the property type, location and scope, and clarify whether it concerns installation, refurbishment, an inspection or a fault.

  2. 2

    Appointment for an on-site visit

We arrange an appointment at the property. There we look at the distribution board, cable routes and condition of the existing system, and discuss what is technically necessary and what you would like.

  3. 3

    Quote based on measurements

You receive a written quote with the items we recorded on site. Anything that only becomes apparent once the wall is opened up is listed separately rather than hidden in the price.

  4. 4

    Execution and invoicing

After your approval, we schedule the execution period. You are invoiced for what was actually carried out; we discuss any deviations from the quote with you beforehand.

Inspection or rewiring?

Many callers don't know whether they need an inspection or a rewiring job. The difference lies in the outcome: one results in a report, the other in a modified system.

Condition assessment

E-check and inspection

  • Visual inspection, measurement and functional test of the existing system
  • You receive a written test report with measured values and findings
  • Suitable for letting, selling, insurance and recurring inspections in commercial settings
  • Work usually done in a single appointment; the building stays in use and occupants stay in place
  • Does not fix any defect yet – defects are identified, not resolved
System conversion

Electrical rewiring

  • New cabling, a distribution board with residual-current protection, additional circuits
  • Addresses the cause rather than the symptom, including in older wiring
  • Can also be done in stages in occupied rooms
  • Requires several working days and access to walls or conduits
  • Involves dust, chasing work and circuits being temporarily switched off

Costs

What makes up an invoice

We bill based on actual effort: time worked, materials used and the journey to the property.

Before larger jobs – a rewiring project, a new meter cabinet or an additional sub-distribution board – we prepare a written quote with itemised positions, so you can see what each item covers. Fault call-outs and small repairs cannot be priced precisely in advance, since only the fault-finding process reveals what needs doing. We tell you the hourly rate over the phone and get in touch as soon as the scope noticeably increases.

What drives the cost

  • Condition of the existing installation: fabric-insulated cables, lines without a protective earth conductor, or old fuse wire mean more replacement work than a system from the 1990s.
  • Cable routing: surface-mounted cable trunking is quicker than cutting channels, chiselling and plastering.
  • Accessibility: cleared rooms, a reachable distribution board and a parking space at the property save working time.
  • Scope of documentation: measurement report, wiring diagram and distribution board labelling depending on the size of the installation.
  • Material: number of sockets, switch range, residual current devices (RCDs) and cable cross-sections.

How to keep costs down

  • Gather all your requirements in advance so we can work in one pass instead of three appointments.
  • Bundle several small jobs into one appointment – the call-out then only applies once.
  • Move furniture away from the affected walls and cover floors.
  • Have existing documents ready: old measurement reports, floor plan, meter number.
  • For rental properties, clarify early on who commissions the work and who receives the invoice.
